How to Quit Snoring

Snoring has become a serious issue for many households. It can affect your own sleep. Sleep is a necessary and important piece of health and you all deserve to sleep well. If you have a snoring problem, you can go through the following seven tips to quit snoring at night:

1. Maintain a Healthy Weight

Obesity is estimated by most as the leading cause of snoring problems, though certainly not the only cause. Many people find that when they get back down to a healthy weight, the snoring becomes a thing of the past.

2. Sleep on the Side or the Stomach

Some people only snore when they sleep on their back. It is hard to control what you do while asleep, but a helpful spouse can help you correct the problem.

3. Don’t Eat Before Bed

The resulting pressure in the stomach as you try to sleep can lead to snoring. Eating a little earlier in the evening is a small price to pay for a good night of sleep for all.

4. Don’t Drink Alcohol

Alcohol can cause the muscles in your throat to become lax and result in snoring as your air passages are partially blocked. Try not drinking for at least a couple of weeks in combination with the other tips.

5. Don’t Smoke

This is kind of the obvious tip, but for some people it helps to be told repeatedly. Cigarettes, cigars, and pipes all have throat tissue irritants in them that can affect airflow. They also can cause a lot of build up of thick chemicals in the throat that can impede the airway.

6. Don’t Drink Milk

The mucus buildup that can result from drinking milk may narrow the area through which air can travel and lead to snoring or an exasperation of snoring.

7. Have Some Honey in the Evening
Honey has long been reputed for its use with throat ailments. Many drink tea with honey in it to clear their throats. Have something with honey in it this evening before you go to bed.
