Chronic Pharyngitis May Cause Snoring

April23rd,2010

Many patients with chronic pharyngitis, many have different levels of snoring, here we provide how chronic pharyngitis cause snoring ?

Snoring causes can be divided into two different categories as physiological and pathological reasons.

1. Physiological snoring is caused by people sleep with inappropriate position, pillows too high or too low, or because of physical fatigue, alcohol consumption, the pharynx muscle relaxation increased, tongue fall back and so on. Elderly pharyngeal muscle relaxation, obese fat accumulation, the soft palate vibration increased,  air breathing resistance, nasal cavity, pharynx stenosis caused by cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, metabolic disorders, systemic disease, abnormal soft palate forms and activities, all these may cause snoring.

2. Chronic pharyngitis, rhinitis, tonsil, pharyngeal wall thickening, follicular hyperplasia, swelling of the nasopharynx. As a long-term inflammatory stimulation, soft palate redness, swelling, thickening, uvula thicker longer all make the throat becomes narrow, increasing the resistance of the respiratory airflow leading snoring, even severe apnea or asphyxia occurs.

Many patients with chronic pharyngitis, many different levels of snoring, cure of chronic pharyngitis, snoring also disappear.  The children snoring is due to tonsil or adenoid hypertrophy.

Therefore, people who snore frequently should be carefully examined to ENT, if it is due to chronic pharyngitis or tonsil and adenoid hypertrophy, should be actively treated; if conservative treatment ineffective, surgery can be implemented to shorten the uvula, soft palatenervous patients, the proliferation of extraction technique, to reduce pharyngeal resistance and improve symptoms.

What causes snoring?

Snoring is rootly due to the narrowed airway during sleep, narrowed airway may be caused by many reasons, including large tonsils, a long soft palate or uvula or, in people who are overweight, excessive flabby tissue in the throat. All of these areas would be to relax muscles during sleep, excessive relaxation of these muscles would collapse down, blocking the airway, causing soft-tissue vibrations which cause snoring.

Allergic diseases, or in the nasal cartilage nasal deformity also cause airway narrowing. However, the most common cause of a narrowed or restricted airway is the tongue muscle, which can relax too much during sleep and is easily sucked back into the throat with each breath.

tongue-snoring Shown in Figure A, the tongue when inhaling are being sucked to the throat, thus blocking the airway, causing snoring.

Figure B shows, aveoTSD gently solid living tongue, prevent them from being attracted to the back of the Road to maintain smooth, it will effectively prevent snoring (snoring)

What is aveoTSD anti snoring aid ?

The aveoTSD is made of soft medical silicone, and is very comfortable for use. It works by holding the tongue forward by gentle suction preventing it from falling back against the back of the throat , keeping the airway open during sleep . It is avaliable in one, handy universal size designed to fit the majority, and requires no specialist fitting.  The AveoTSD is a non-adjustable universal device that is the most cost effective and simple to use.

How to use aveoTSD anti snoring aid ?

1. First rinse the AveoTSD under hot water. Position the arrow pointing up with notch underneath which is clearance for the lingual frenulum, which anchors the tongue in the midline to the floor of the mouth. Please note that the free movement of the tongue in the midline, they can always change the size, shape and location, is a very thick solid mass of muscle.

2. Placed in the AveoTSD tongue pushing it to the end. To use a mirror to see the shape and location. Take the time to find your place will be the most comfortable.

3. After positioning, squeeze in each thumb and index finger, while gently suck suck balls increased. Use a mirror to see your tongue, you have to release suction bulb.

4. The AveoTSD should now hold a good suction tongue. Now, gently squeeze, and the sides and the experience of negative pressure (suction), you can create a suction finger curve ball. This is important because excessive inhalation can cause discomfort. Is not enough suction may allow AveoTSD dropped off at night.

5. Keep your tongue AveoTSD the first 10 minutes or longer, and then re-adjust the position, if a more comfortable adaptation needs by adding or reducing the suction.

6. Or discomfort may be felt on the tongue, they will disappear, become familiar with and practice with the equipment. Through practice you will find your best position and suction pressure is a very personal thing.

Top 5 Reasons Cause Snoring

February14th,2010

As we have mentioned that snoring is a sound resulting from turbulent airflow that causes tissues to vibrate during sleep. So what can cause airflow turbulent and cause tissues vibrate ? Here we provide you with the top 5 reasons that cause snoring commonly.

Mouth breathing

We naturally breathe through our noses, but some people cannot breathe through their noses because of obstruction of the nasal passages. This can be caused by a deviation of the nasal septum, allergies, sinus infections, swelling of the turbinates, or large adenoids (tonsils in the back of the throat). However, if you breathe through you mouth, the flow of air through the mouth may causes greater vibration of tissues.

The soft palate

The soft palate is important when breathing, during nasal breathing, the palate moves forward and “opens” the nasal airway for air to pass into the lungs. IF the soft palate too long or floppy, it can vibrate and cause snoring.  So the palate often is the structure that vibrate during snoring and surgical treatments for snoring may alter these structures and prevent guttural fricative sounds.

Sleeping Position

When we sleep on the back, gravity acts to pull on all the tissues of the body, but the tissues of the pharynx are relatively soft and floppy. Therefore, when we lie on our backs, gravity pulls the palate, tonsils, and tongue backwards. This often narrows the airway enough to cause turbulence in airflow, tissue vibration, and snoring.

Stage of Sleep
Sleep consists of several stages, but in general they can be divided into REM(rapid eye movement) and non-REM stages. During REM sleep, the brain sends the signal to all the muscles of the body (except the breathing muscles) to relax. Unfortunately, the tongue, palate, and throat can collapse when they relax. This can cause the airway to narrow and worsen snoring.

Medications and Alcohol
Some medications as well as alcohol can lead to enhanced relaxation of muscles during sleep. As the muscles of the palate, tongue, neck, and pharynx relax more, the airway collapses more. This leads to a smaller airway and greater tissue vibration. Some medications encourage a deeper level of sleep, which also can worsen snoring.
